Goalpak Tea
A label of the J&T McGinley company. Donegal and Northern Ireland - 1928-1976
For quality
Goalpak was the label of Irish tea merchant J&T McGinley, founded by brothers Jack and Tom McGinley in 1928. The company operated for 48 years, blending and selling tea throughout Donegal and Northern Ireland. Headquartered in Derry but with a second premises in Donegal, its cross-border position created challenges, but the company succeeded where many others didn’t, successfully navigating the Anglo-Irish Economic War, World War Two, rationing, and economic protectionism. It was the intensification of Northern Ireland’s sectarian conflict that led to the business’s closure in 1976.
